Pickleball players from Ridgefield and the surrounding towns joined in a fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics.
**News Release Submitted by Ridgefield Pickleball**
The Ridgefield Pickleball community in cooperation with the Ridgefield Police Benevolent Association held a local tournament this past Saturday (Aug 1) to raise money for Special Olympics CT.
Players from Ridgefield and the surrounding towns joined in a fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics.
There were a total of 12 teams each donating $70 to participate in the event. Addition funds were raised via raffle items during the tournament. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to the charity.
Each team played at least 5 games, with the top 4 teams playing a total of 7. Although the heat and humidity was oppressive, plenty of water and other refreshments, thanks to Fletch’s Bagels, were provided.
Special thanks to Beverly Kalil and Frank Lanzetta of the Ridgefield Pickleball community and Officer Julian Pagliuco and Lieutenant Christopher DeFalco of the Police Benevolent Association for organizing this special event!
