Ridgefield Police: 19 Cell Phone Busts In Three Hours; Head-On Collision Injures Six

On Thursday, August 11, Ridgefield police arrested Steven Docchio, 45, of Waterbury for talking on a cell phone while driving north on Ethan Allen Highway with a suspended license around 10 a.m. He was charged with a misdemeanor and is expected in court on August 26.

Police set up a cell phone detail Friday morning from 7:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Rte. 7 and Rte. 102. Overall, they logged 19 infractions and written warnings for cell phone use while driving.

Police are investigating a head-on collision that sent six people to Danbury hospital Sunday evening. The accident, which took place on North Salem Rd. around 7:40 p.m., did not incur any life-threatening injuries. The drivers of the cars were Dylan Dunn, 19, of Brewster, N.Y., and Timothy O'Connor, 56, of Ridgefield.

Ridgefield police, in another traffic detail Monday morning from 7:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on George Washington Highway and Ridgebury Rd., logged 12 more infractions and written warnings, this time for speeding and stop-sign violations.
