Ridgefield Police Commission Seeks Democrat Candidates To Fill Vacancy
Police Commissioner George Kain has resigned from his position upon his recent ordination to Roman Catholic deacon.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Ridgefield Police Commission is seeking candidates to fill a vacant seat on the Police Commission.
Long term Police Commissioner George Kain has resigned from his position upon his recent ordination to deacon by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport, according to a news release.
Per the town’s charter, the commission has 30 days to fill the vacancy, and must fill the vacancy with someone of the same party affiliation as the resigning member.
The Democrat Town Committee intends to endorse a candidate for the Commission’s consideration in filling Kain’s seat, according to Police Commission chair John Frey. Democrats interested may email the candidate search committee at recruitment@ridgefielddems.org.
Any interested applicants registered with the Democrat Party should send a statement of interest and detailed resume or biography demonstrating their qualifications for the slot to Commission Chairman John Frey, Ridgefield Police Department, 76 East Ridge Road, Ridgefield, CT by August 12.
The Police Commission intends to hold a special meeting on August 16 to interview all interested candidates and vote on to fill the vacancy. The four remaining members — chair John Frey and members Marcie Coffin, Isabel Caporale and Sharon Dornfeld — will take into consideration the DTC's nomination or other recommended candidates.
