Ridgefield Preps for Public Debate on Deer Hunt in June
In the interim, officials will solicit the opinions of a variety of experts in anticipation of the public discussion.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The selectmen have agreed on a public hearing to reconsider the deer hunt conducted on town land annually since 2006., the Ridgefield Press has reported.
In the interim, officials will solicit the opinions of a variety of experts in anticipation of the public discussion.
According to First Selectman Rudy Marconi , the town initiated deer hunting on public lands because of the high incidences of deer/car accidents and Lyme disease, as well as the damaging effect the animals were having on the open space understory and residential landscaping.
