Ridgefield To Raise Sewer Fees

The cost to flush will jump about 60 percent for the year.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The cost to flush will be going up in Ridgefield's central sewer district, following the renovation of the sewer treatment plant.

The rates will escalate about 60 percent for the year, the News-Times is reporting. That's a hike of around $470 a year to $750 a year for a single family hooked into the town sewer system.

The increase will hit homes and businesses on the town’s District I sewer system, serving the village and central Ridgefield commercial and residential areas, and took effect with the July 1 start of the 2019-20 fiscal year.

The increase is necessary in part to fund the ongoing $48 million renovation project, which is designed to reduce nitrogen and phosphorous released into the Norwalk River, and bring the plumbing up to new federal and state standards.
