Ridgefield Reduces Workforce, Trims Payroll

The benefit will be in the neighborhood of a half million dollars annually.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The town's payroll will diminish by a total of four employees, with three full-time and two half-time jobs eliminated, The Ridgefield Press is reporting. Most of the positions will be vacated through retirement, and not filled.

The benefit will be in the neighborhood of a half million dollars annually.

Full-time employees in the building department, parks and recreation, and purchasing who retired Aug. 31 will not be replaced. Two admin positions, one in the fire department and one in the tax collector’s office, will be cut from full- to half-time.

The town clerk and town engineer are also retiring, but will be replaced.
