Ridgefield School of Dance to Launch Musical Theater Workshop

The workshop will run March 9 through April 6.

From Ridgefield School of Dance:Finding fun ways to get your children off the couch during the long winter months can be challenging. The good news is that The Ridgefield School of Dance is launching a crazy-fun 5-week musical theatre dance workshop for ages 7 through 10 (grades 2-5) running March 9 through April 6. Times are 3:30 to 4:45 pm and the cost is $150. You can register through the school website or by calling their office.

The workshop will introduce the basics of musical theater dance: learning foot patterns, working on acting skills, musicality, conditioning, choreography and even a little singing set to Broadway show tunes. Dance teacher Adéa Sessoms, a veteran of the boards, has toured with the first and second national tour of the Broadway hit show “Wicked,” and also tours with singing artist Santigold.

“There is no doubt that this is going to be a fun workshop. Adéa provides an energetic environment where dancers can harness their creativity, learn new skills and work as an ensemble,” says executive director Alison Brown, who is marking her fifth anniversary as owner. “Musical theater dance is a popular part of our jazz curriculum and a wonderful introduction for students who want to give dance a try.” In its third decade, The Ridgefield School of Dance provides pre-professional and recreational dance instruction focusing on classical ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, tap and musical theatre dance. With a complete schedule of day and evening classes for ages three through adult, the school offers the joy and discipline of dance, with a challenging curriculum at all program levels.
