RIDGEFIELD, CT — To celebrate this year of dance, the Ridgefield School of Dance will present "The Four Seasons”, and “Exhale”, Friday, at 7 p.m., at The Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport.

The Four Seasons boasts original choreography by artistic director Jessica Boelts, featuring a blend of Antonio Vivaldi’s classical and well-known score and Max Richter’s recomposed version of the same piece. The Vivaldi sequences are classically oriented and interwoven with Richter’s more contemporary score. Boelts’ choreography takes the audience through spring, summer, autumn and winter, interweaving Company dancers with an ensemble of rising young ballerinas. Three of the four seasons will feature a graduating Company member. The ballet combines classical technique with contemporary dance-inflected movements to focus on expressing each season.

"We chose the theme of ‘The Four Seasons’ because it allowed us to divide our company into four smaller groups so we can deliver a beautiful performance while still following COVID protocols,” said artistic director Jessica Boelts. Studio owner Alison Brown added that the Jazz performance also reflects the thrill of being able to perform. “The Jazz performance, ‘Exhale,’ harnesses the pent-up energy from a year spent in limited engagement with others. While most choreography is created by the teachers, some was created in collaboration with students, and one student is making her choreography debut."

"Exhale" will include a variety of styles and techniques with choreography by the school’s teachers. The Jazz performance will include choreography by Ridgefield High School's Sophia Dotterer and Sofia Garrett.

This year’s presentation marks the final performances of graduating seniors Rebecca Ronai from Weston as Spring and Ridgefielders Ariana Mirfakhrai and Makena Davi as Autumn and Winter respectively. All three have been dancing since they were 3 years old.

There is ample seating at The Klein Auditorium, so audiences can be socially distanced. Masks are required. Tickets are $25 for students (18 and under) and $29 for adults. Streaming is also available. Tickets are available online here.
