Ridgefield School System Names New Permanent Superintendent

He will take over the job in February.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The school system has hired a new permanent superintendent, The Ridgefield Press is reporting.

Dr. William Collins, the former superintendent of Newington Public Schools, was hired Dec. 18 and will take over the job from Interim Superintendent Dr. JeanAnn Paddyfote on Feb. 19, 2019.

Collins was the superintendent in Newington for the past 18 years, according to the Newington Town Crier. He is credited with leading the opening of half-a-dozen focused-study academies at the middle and high school level, including the Martin Kellogg Academy of Biomedical Sciences and the John Wallace Academy of Aerospace and Engineering.

Prior to his tenure as superintendent, Collins was principal of Newington High School.
