Ridgefield Schools to Make Up Storm Days Next Year
The May macroburst, combined with the multiple winter snows, left the school district shy of minimum required school days.

RIDGEFIELD, CT -- Ridgefield has won its requested waiver from the state requirement for schools to be in session 180 days in the 2017-18 school year, The CTPost has reported.
The waiver was requested following the May macroburst that caused power outages and obstructed roadways for days in its wake, closing schools.
Another state law, forbidding schools to be in session during July, prevented officials from using the easier fix of just extending the 2017-18 school year.
Neighboring Danbury has also won its waiver request.
