Ridgefield Sets Public Hearing, Vote, on Anti-Fracking Law
The law would ban hydraulic fracturing in Ridgefield, as well as transportation, storage, or the use of any fracking by-products.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Board of Selectmen have scheduled a January public hearing and town meeting on a law to ban hydraulic fracturing in town, the News Times has reported.
Anti-fracking petitioners, who needed to collect valid signatures equal to 2 percent of the town’s registered voters, reached that goal on Nov. 9. The group seeks to ban hydraulic fracturing in Ridgefield, as well as transportation, storage, or the use of any fracking by-products. Whereas it is highly unlikely there would ever be fracking in town, a ban on fracking by-products, which could include products such as road materials or de-icing products, could impact local businesses.
