Ridgefield is Shy One School Day, Will Ask State for Waiver

Those two days off due to the recent storm put the district over the quota.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — The school district will request that the state Board of Education give them a waiver of the required 180 school days after deciding not to hold school on Memorial Day, the News-Times is reporting.

Connecticut state law requires student attend at least 180 days of school, with none of those days being in July. Last week's two storm closures combined with 12 snowdays from the winter mean Ridgefield schoolchildren will have accrued only 179 class days by June 29.
