RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield High School student Lane Murdock, who organized the National School Walkout has been selected for a year-long Giffords Courage Fellowship.
The fellowship, in its inaugural year, will bring 28 students to Washington DC this week for a three-day team building and organizing workshop. After they leave Washington, fellows will participate in a number of activities including topical webinars on gun violence prevention and conference calls, and "be challenged to create an end of the year 'Take-Action project,'" according to a release.
The Giffords Courage Fellowship, co-founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, "will provide young people with tools and opportunities to demand safer gun laws in communities across the country," according to their website.
