Ridgefield Students Oppose Talk Of Budget Cuts

Students said they hoped layoffs or reductions to sports wouldn't happen.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Several students spoke out against talk of cuts that could cause layoffs or cuts to spring sports.

The school system faces a potential $1.2 million budget shortfall for the current year, according to the Ridgefield Press. One solution would be for the Board of Finance to provide an appropriation for the amount of the deficit, which would have to go before voters.

The school system said on Twitter that cuts to spring sports are not being considered at this time.
