Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra Debuts New Program During Golden Anniversary Season

Concert Conversations Provides Concertgoers with Insights Into Music Performed on that Evening's Performance

The famed British essayist Thomas Carlyle wrote, “Music is well said to be the speech of angels; in fact, nothing among the utterances allowed to man is felt to be so divine.” Truth indeed, and yet classical music can be a language challenging to the uninitiated; learning the “grammar” of music, however, yields rewards far beyond any efforts expended.

Learning the lingua franca of music requires an experienced guide, which is why the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra has inaugurated our Concert Conversations Series prior to our October 4th season opening concert and all performances during our 2014-15 Season.

Hosted by acclaimed conductor and musician Michael Lankester, he brings a lifetime of performance, study and reflection to bear on understanding the greatest music ever written and the stories behind the composers and compositions. Maestro Lankester will also delve into the cultural milieu of the genesis of the works on the program, putting them into a broader social context.

Concert Conversations will be held at 7:00 pm immediately prior to all RSO performances in the Anne S. Richardson Auditorium at Ridgefield High School. Admission is free for anyone holding a ticket for that evening’s performance.

The RSO’s 50th Anniversary Season opens on October 4th, with a program featuring Grieg, Sibelius and Mozart. And in honor of our Golden Anniversary, new subscribers save 25% off regular rates! You can subscribe for as low as $49/$41 Seniors; single tickets start at $25/$20 Seniors.  For tickets and more information on the upcoming 50th Anniversary RSO season please visit www.ridgefieldsymphony.org.
