Ridgefield Volunteer Firefighters Urge Incentive Funding Restored
The funding is used to help retain firefighters for the long term.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Ridgefield volunteer firefighters are urging the town to restore a $5,000 cut made to the department's incentive program.
The program is described as pension-like and allows volunteer firefighters to get a $600 a year benefit, according to the Ridgefield Press.
The town gave the contribution starting in 1993 and hte department has grown from 38 active volunteers to 56.
A cut was made in 2017-2018 fiscal year down to $20,000.
