Ridgefield Voters Decide on Town and School Budgets
The proposed 2019-20 fiscal plans went to referendum on Tuesday
RIDGEFIELD, CT — Voters approved a $47,793,923 town operating budget and another $98,193,760 for the schools as the 2019-20 fiscal plans went to referendum on Tuesday.
The new town budget represents a zero percent increase over the current spend, while the spending plan approved for the Board of Education is 3.36 percent above what residents approved last year.
The vote counts are "unofficial" pending final word from the registrars of voters.
Voters also approved spending $1,840,000 for road and infrastructure improvement in the next fiscal year, and also six additional capital requests totaling more than $4 million.
The total green-lit package will translate into a 1.24 percent tax hike for residents.
