When Will Power Be Restored In Ridgefield?
Once the techs from Massachusetts and New Hampshire have handled their local problems, they'll be on their way here.
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The town's Office of Emergency Management has reported that 77 percent of Ridgefield is without power as of 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.
It won't be coming back anytime soon, either.
"Unfortunately, it has been reported to us that due to COVID-19 mutual aid has been slow. As a result we will be waiting for crews from New Hampshire and Massachusetts once they have addressed their local issues," OEM officials said in a news release.
"Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day with more crews arriving..."
The OEM is also warning residents to regard all downed wires as live, and report them to the Ridgefield Police Department at 203-438-6531.
The Ridgefield Fire Department has received numerous calls regarding asphyxiation as a result of improper generator placement, according to the OEM, and recommends keeping generators as far as possible away from your home.
Drinking water will be available Wednesday after 3 p.m. at:
◦ Parks & Rec, 195 Danbury Road
◦ The Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 East Ridge Road
◦ Ridgebury Fire Department, 169 Old Stagecoach Road.
