Ridgefield Winter Club to Face P&Z Commission, Public

The meeting will be held at East Ridge Middle School on Tue. Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Representatives of both sides in the debate over the proposed Ridgefield Winter Club at 340 Peaceable Street will be heard by the The Planning & Zoning Commission and the public on Tuesday night.

The club filed a special permit application for an outdoor ice rink and three-story clubhouse to be built upon the former Pinchbeck nursery on July 20. Representatives of the club will give a presentation for members of the commission and the public first, followed by a period of public comment.

Much of that comment is expected to come from members of the Peaceable Neighbors Alliance. The group opposes the development over the light pollution and additional traffic it fears RWC will bring to the neighborhood, and points out that the 6-acre property at 340 Peaceable Street is zoned as 3-Acre Residential, directly bordering wetlands and a town open space refuge.
