Ridgefield Women's Club hosts 49th Annual Craft Fair 11/23/19

Woman's Work: How the Ridgefield Woman's Club Gives Back

“Real Women Care” is the Motto of the Ridgefield Woman’s Club, and for over 50 years a determined group of women have made a difference in the town we all embrace.
Starting with humble goals in 1965, the Club has long been dedicated to helping others in the community. Thanks to the success of the annual Craft Fair, the Club has made yearly donations to a wide range of charitable organizations and programs; in 2018 alone, these donations totaled over $17,000. Club donations aided the Ridgefield Fire Department, the Visiting Nurse Association, the Town Library and Parks and Recreation program, to cite just a few. The Women’s Club has also helped support the Town Emergency Fund, which gives direct aid to those residents who are in need.

Members have collected various items, like supplies for the VNA to distribute to clients, canned or boxed items for the Food Pantry, gently used children’s books for Head Start, nursery schools and elsewhere. A popular annual project is our gift of hundreds of hand-sewn “Comfort Pillows”, to be used by Danbury Hospital patients who are recovering from surgery. New this year we will donate old-butstill-usable shoes to a charity called “Soles for Souls”. The collected shoes will be shipped to areas of the world where, sadly, it has been reported: “There are children who cannot attend school for lack of shoes!” If interested, anyone may contribute shoes to this project by taking them to the Parks and Recreation building off Rt. 35.

By far, however, the longest-running project, and the one that funds the RWC’s four Annual Scholarships for seniors at Ridgefield High School, is the Craft Fair, taking place on November 23rd this year. The fun begins at 10 am at East Ridge Middle School and will continue until 4pm. On display will be a bonanza of beautiful, whimsical, artistic, hand-made crafts which will be offered for sale by over 85 crafters. As in the past, lunch and snacks will be available for purchase in the school cafeteria.

Admission is $8.00 for Adults, $6.00 for Seniors, and Children under 12 FREE.
Remember every dollar you contribute will be returned to the community as a donation, helping to increase the well-being of everyone who calls Ridgefield: “HOME”.
