Ridgefield's Conroy Participates in Futures Game
A number of Ridgefield players, including Collin Omeara, Devin Martin, Joe Hannigan and Christian Walter, also took part in the American Legion All-Star games.
Pete Conroy represented Ridgefield on the National South (Fairfield County) team that defeated American North (Hartford County), 3-2, at the Futures Game at Simsbury's Memorial Field on July 31.
Conroy, a member of Ridgefield's Senior American Legion squad, grounded to short twice and made a fine running catch in right field. The team was comprised of 18 returning high school FCIAC players who play Legion ball in Zone 4.
There were 50 colleges and five major league teams in attendance along with representatives from USA Baseball.
Ridgefield's Collin Omeara and Devin Martin both contributed to Fairfield County South's 8-3 victory over the North in the annual junior Legion All-Star game (under-17) at Trumbull High School.

Omeara doubled to left in the fourth inning to help build the lead for the South while Martin pitched scoreless fifth and sixth innings.
In the senior Legion All-Star contest (under-19), Ridgefield's Joe Hannigan, Christian Walter and Conroy all made fine defensive plays for the Fairfield County South squad.

The North beat the South, 1-0, in a game that featured several of the top underclassmen pitchers in Fairfield County.
