Ridgefield's Scotland Elementary School Principal Under Fire

Parents cited inappropriate behavior on social media, calling for the principal's dismissal.

RIDGEFIELD, CT -- Scotland Elementary School Principal Joanna Genovese was criticized by a group of parents who showed up at the Board of Education meeting Tuesday night, The Ridgefield Press is reporting. Parents alleged negligence to children’s safety in school and inappropriate behavior on social media, calling for Genovese's dismissal.

Parents were critical of the number of assistants whom Genovese schedules to watch children at lunch and recess, alleging they are too few in number to endure the children's safety.

Genovese's behavior on social media was also criticized. Parents alleged that the principal shared memes that included profanity and encouraged the use of alcohol.
