Ridgefield's ​Whip Blow Dry Bar + Salon Announces Expansion

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Since Whip Blow Dry Bar + Salon opened last fall in downtown Ridgefield the boutique, customer-focused salon has gotten rave reviews and created a loyal following for its hair and makeup services. Open 7 days a week, Whip offers cuts, color and makeup services and caters to ladies, mens and kids.

Amy Pal, the Ridgefield entrepreneur who successfully introduced and sold two JoyRide spin studios in Ridgefield and Wilton, is Whip’s founder. Pal has her finger on the pulse when it comes to identifying market trends, and her next move is to introduce timely new services in a hip renovated “underground” space at Whip. The new venture, located downstairs at Whip Salon, is called Whip Underground and will offer eyelash extensions, Botox, and other medi-spa services.

“I’ve noticed that while lash extensions and cosmetic injectables (Botox) are services everyone’s talking about, most people travel outside Ridgefield to get them,” said Pal. “I wanted to bring these services to the local market, so I’m building a special treatment space inside Whip and have found professionals who are exceptionally skilled, highly experienced and very excited to be a part of this new concept in Ridgefield.”

Whip Underground

“Whip Underground” opens June 9th, 2017 in a newly renovated downstairs space at Whip Salon, 23 Governor Street in the heart of downtown. Services can already be booked online or by phone at 203-442-6444. Whip Underground will initially provide two kinds of services: Lash Extension and Cosmetic Injections & Fillers. Lash Extensions will include three tiers: Classic and two types of Volume Lashes: 2D/3D and Russian. The Medi Spa services will include treatments using Allergan (Botox, Dysport and Xeomin) and Galderna (Restalyne and Dyskord).

Pal is most excited about her Whip Underground “superstars.” “Lash Extensions and Botox are not services one can offer lightly--they require careful planning and consideration. My aim is to create something that is conveniently local but also high quality, trustworthy and reputable. I’m so fortunate to have found the right specialists who are not just experts at what they do, but also wonderful women who I know Ridgefielders will enjoy and feel comfortable with,” said Pal.

Master Eyelash Extension Artist: Cathy Bull

Cathy Bull is a certified Master Eyelash Extension Artist with over 8 years’ experience. She specializes in unique designs for each individual client, uses only the highest quality products available, and has superior knowledge of medical grade glues including those for sensitive eyes. All lashes are high grade silk, with many different lengths, thickness, and curls in black or brown tones. Clients are able to choose from a “Classic” look (a single silk extension applied one by one to each individual natural lash) or a “Russian Volume Technique” in which multiple eyelash extensions are applied to a single natural lash creating depth, volume and texture.

Cosmetic Injector For Face and Body: Valentina Hadland, RN

Valentina Hadland brings her exceptional injectable skills, nursing expertise and passion for medical aesthetics to Whip Underground. She previously managed a successful Anti Aging and Family Wellness Group in Southhampton, NY and currently is a provider at Omni Aesthetic MD in New York City. Valentina is a certified provider of Ultherapy and Coolsculpting, a KAO Allergan trainer, and has worked intimately with the renowned plastic surgeons Dr. Mauricio De Maio and Dr. Norman Hugo. As a national instructor at the Esthetic Skin Institute for Botulism Toxins, Dermal Fillers, PRP and Sclerotherapy, she also teaches physicians and other healthcare professionals how to safely and skillfully administer these aesthetic procedures. She is proud to be the New York State representative for the American Academy of Medical Esthetic Professionals.

The Vibe

Whip Underground is literally...underground. The expansion is taking place in the basement of the existing salon located at 23 Governor Street next door to Bissell Pharmacy. “Whip Underground will have its own urban hipster vibe to complement its name,” said Pal. “I’m thrilled to announce we’ve commissioned talented local graffiti artists Yedi Fresh and Mike Cerullo to create a cool, colorful and whimsical graffiti hallway leading down to the treatment rooms.”

Interior design team Romeo + Baglio are back to create the look and feel of the medi spa treatment rooms. “We’re pleased to be working on this new project with Amy because it’s such a departure from the upstairs look and feel of Whip Salon. Whip Underground will have its own personality so it’s an exciting challenge to pull off,” said Rebecca Baglio, co-owner of Romeo + Baglio.

Whip Underground will share reception with the existing Whip Salon front desk. Clients will be able to book Whip Underground appointments in person, by phone, or online at whipsalon.com.

The Launch Party: Thursday, June 8th 6-9pm at Whip Salon

Whip Underground will be unveiled to the public at a launch party on Thursday, June 8th from 6-9pm. For $10 admission at the door guests will enjoy a Whip Signature Cocktail or bubbly, light bites, and entry into drawings for free or discounted Whip Underground services. Guests will also meet the three “superstars” behind Whip Salon /Underground: Cathy Bull (lashes), Valentina Hadland RN (botox), Suzanne Baumann (senior colorist). Yedi Fresh and Mike Cerullo, the artists behind the creative graffiti mural leading Underground, will be there to talk about their work.
