Spring Stroll Through Ridgefield Set for This Weekend

The events include a chalk art festival from 10 am to 3:30 pm.

RIDGEFIELD, CT --- The merchants' association Downtown Ridgefield, Inc. has announced the line-up of events for "Spring Stroll 2018," to be held throughout Ridgefield this Saturday, May 5.

  • All Day ~ Baking Contest at Elizabella's - Complete form by Thursday, May 3; entries submitted and judged on Friday and top three entries displayed in the store window Saturday. Entry form and rules available at Elizabella's on Bailey Avenue. Winner receives a special gift from Elizabella's Bake Shop
  • 9 am - 12 pm ~ Youth Fencing Tournament, ages 8-14, Spectators welcome, Governor Street
  • 9 am - 5pm ~ Ridgefield Library, Friends of the Library Children's Book Sale, Ridgefield League of Women Voters voter registration, and RL Odyssey of the Mind team, World Finalists bake sale, 472 Main Street
  • 10 am - 4 pm ~ Art Exhibit and Mini Jewelry Making, SPHERE, 421 Main Street
  • 11am - 9pm ~ Ridgefield Gone Country BBQ Festival, Ridgefield Rotary at Lounsbury House, 316 Main Street
  • 12 noon - 4pm ~ Scavenger Hunt Find the 7 chalk art tigers by Mark Panzarino hiding in plain sight downtown and qualify to win raffle prizes! Pick up your entry form at the Library. Sponsored by Fairfield County Bank
  • 12 noon - 4 pm ~ Balloon Artists in front of Lucy's and Toy Chest, Main Street, sponsored by Lucy's and The Toy Chest
  • 12 noon - 12:45 pm ~ Rock and Roll for ages birth to 3 and their caregivers with Miss Jeannine from Bach to Rock, on Catoonah Street
  • 12 noon - 7 pm ~ Cheer's Ridgefield will be serving up "Mini Mint Juleps" to celebrate the Stroll and the Kentucky Derby. They will also have non-alcoholic sparkling cider for the kids.
  • 1 pm - 4 pm ~ Strolling performers from the Newtown Circus Club including jugglers, stilt walkers, and unicyclists, sponsored by The Ridgefield Playhouse, Books on the Common, Turkey Ridge, Coldwell Banker, Hutton's Fine Menswear
  • 2 pm - 5 pm ~ Face Painting by Donatella, on the front porch of Whip and Bissell, sponsored by Whip Salon and Bissell Pharmacy and the Loft at Bissell's
  • 2 pm - 2:45 pm ~ Bach to Rock's Petting Zoo with Miss Jeannine. Come along and try out different instruments and see how they sound. Ages 3-9 on Catoonah Street
  • 2 - 2:30 pm ~ The Nightingales a Capella group, in front of Town Hall
  • 4 - 5:30 pm ~ Solo Performances by Students and Instructor with band from Bach to Rock, in front of Town Hall
  • 5 pm ~ Judging, Student Chalk Art Competition, Town Hall
  • 6 pm - 7 pm ~ D.J. Jimmy and students from Bach to Rock, in front of Town Hall

  • The Chalk Festival, from 10 am - 3:30 pm, will be held on Main Street, Prospect Street, Bailey Avenue and Catoonah Street. Featured will be professional chalk artists Mark Panzarino and Sara Wenger. There will also be a student competition. Artists from local schools will b showing their work. All children are welcome to make their own chalk art creations outside Fairfield County Bank Insurance. Pick up supplies at Squash's.
