Feb. 20, 2024
We collected over 30,000 bottles and cans at our last event! At this pace, we should hit a quarter of a million redeemable bottles and cans recycled by May. The next event will be on March 3rd, from 12 to 2 pm at 800 Main Street South, Southbury, CT. Winter hours of 12 - 2 pm will continue for our bottle and can redemption events for this month and next. Winter hours are maintained from December until April. Events are on the first Sunday of the month and open to anyone regardless of the town you live in.

We now pay 10 cents per item, double the previous rate. Each normal-size bag pays $20. Use EyeRecycle bags for the express lane. If you don’t have an EyeRecycle bag, our volunteers will transfer your bottles and cans into an EyeRecycle bag with a fill line for counting. Bags are available for purchase at the event.
We now accept used inkjet printer cartridges (not laser) – drop them off in our collection box, and we will ship them to a cartridge recycling center. We may receive a small donation from the recycler, which will help Sustainable Southbury continue its community work. Stay tuned for more new items collected in the coming months.

Purchase our popular food scrap recycling kit at these events while supplies last. Please sort plastic bottles by size - those smaller than 1 liter, 1 liter, and 2 liter bottles each in a separate bag. Redeemable cans can be in the same bag as plastic bottles that are smaller than 1 liter. All glass bottles must be in a cardboard container to prevent breakage in the bags.
