Teachers Bring 'Hearts Across the World' To Ridgefield
Have you wondered about the backstory behind those hearts popping up all around Ridgefield?
RIDGEFIELD, CT — The art teachers from all six local public elementary schools have brought the Hearts Across the World initiative to Ridgefield.
"Hearts Across Ridgefield" is a community project that "began with two questions: We know that our students have so much kindness to give, how can we help them share it? How can we show that our community is a kind and united one- from a distance?" said Rachael Zumbo-Penney, an art teacher at Farmingville Elementary School, in a news release.
The project encourages students and their families to create and display hearts they make out of paper, nature, wood, etc. in windows, on trees, driveways, mailboxes, or anywhere the hearts might be seen by passersby. As a way to share not only with the communities in their neighborhood but also within their school communities.
Teachers used an online platform called PADLET for the students to post their hearts on the internet, and they may be viewed here:
