OFFICIAL RESULTS: Brookfield Voters Approve Town, Schools Budgets

Voters resoundingly approved the $29 million town portion of the 2022-23 budget 1,124 votes to 670, in the official results.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Brookfield Town Clerk's Office has released the official results of the town's 2022 budget referendum.

Voters resoundingly approved the $29 million town portion of the 2022-23 budget 1,124 votes to 670. Residents also approved the Board of Education's $48.7 million spending plan, by a slightly more narrow margin, 1,049 to 751.

The tally also shows 740 voters noting the school budget was "too high," 696 saying it was "adequate," and 328 believing it was "too low." The town budget is "too high" for 674 Brookfield residents, "adequate" for 884 voters, and "too low" for 199 others.

The combined town and schools spending plan of $77.7 million represents a 3.87 percent hike above the current budget.
