Vandals Demolish Elaborate Halloween Display in Ridgefield

It was the second time in a week that the display was vandalized, but this time, "they took everything down."

RIDGEFIELD, CT — An elaborate Halloween maze set up in front of Tooth Fairy Pediatric Dentistry on Main Street was severely vandalized on Saturday night.

It was the second time in a week that the elaborate display was vandalized, according to Melissa Grant, regional manager for the practice. The goblins made their first pass last Tuesday night, Oct. 22, but the destruction then was not quite so severe.

This past Saturday, some time between the afternoon's Halloween Walk in town and when employees returned to the office on Sunday, the maze and displays were demolished.

"The took everything down, they wrecked the monster house, with all of our monsters, they threw them on the ground. They threw our witch's station on the ground, and they tore the tunnel down, took the entrance down, with all the hay, and threw it on the ground," Grant said. "It was a big mess when we came back on Sunday, and of course it rained, so we really couldn't fix it then."

Grant says there is a plan to rebuild it, but time is fleeting: the Town's big Halloween celebration is Thursday. Tooth Fairy set up a Facebook group, "Halloween Maze Rebuilding Party," that has signed up 12 volunteers as of Tuesday afternoon. Tazza Cafe will be providing baked goods for the re-building efforts, to sweeten the deal.

The police are looking into acquiring video footage from home surveillance cameras in the area to assist in their investigation, Grant said. Patch has reached out to the RPD and will provide an update when more information is available.
