Suburban Couture has a new name, new address and new look. Renamed Suburban Underground, it has relocated to 426 Main St. in Ridgefield, near 50 Coins.
Owner Tao Connelly had been considering relocating from the original spot, next to Sweet Pierre’s, for a while. “When I saw the space, it felt like it was just meant to be," she said. “It's larger, brighter and centrally located.” The former location will remain open for a few weeks to close out old merchandise at savings to customers.
Suburban Underground carries apparel and accessories for women and young adults, including premium lines of denim such as 7 For All Mankind, DL1961, Habitual and Mavi. It also offers other types of clothing and accessories from Lucky Brand, Free People, and Wooden Ships, a new line.
For the first time it is offering a selection for men as well - jeans, shirts, and accessories, like wallets, belts and bags. Another first: hemming services for those jeans that are just a little bit too long.
“Our style is a little funky without being too crazy,” said Mrs. Connelly. “We are a great source for interesting pieces that liven up an outfit. I feel we have abundant resources in town and am hopeful people will consider shopping local before going to the mall."
