Wooster Runners Help Out!
Earlier this month at the Special Olympic State Games, Reed Baker took his volunteering and support to a whole other level.
Since March Wooster students, Alex Ancona, Reed Baker, Sam Briody, Henry Rexford, and Ben Greco have been giving their time to make the Ridgefield Special Olympics Track team a success. Reed Baker, captain of the Wooster Cross Country Team, has spent the last two seasons partnering with one athlete. The bond they have built has been essential to the athlete’s progress. This was the first year for the rest of the Wooster crew but, in just one season they developed rich relationships with their athletes.
Earlier this month at the State Games, Reed took his volunteering and support to a whole other level by taking part of his Sunday to drive to New Haven to actually run in the race with his athlete. The team won bronze and that medal meant the world to the Special Olympics athletes in the race. Thank you to Reed and all of the Wooster students for being such an amazing support system for the Special Olympics team. The team wouldn’t be possible without outstanding kids like them.
