Wooster School Cross Country Success in 2018

The girls cross country team won the HVAL Championship, while the boys team took home 3rd place honors. Up next NEPSTA Championships.

The Wooster School Varsity Cross Country Girls team won the 2018 Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) Championship. They ran a phenomenal race from start to finish. 7th grader Amelia Vail is the HVAL individual champion! She was followed closely by 8th grader Cara Costigan and senior Julia Bauer. All three earned top ten honors. The team win wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of Ingrid Li and Hailey Looney.

The Varsity Cross Country Boys Team earned a third place finish in the HVAL Championship. They were led by Sophomore Luca Segalla (who earned a top 10 finish and ran a personal best of 18:39). The scoring members of the boys team were Luca Segalla, Braden Langis, Vlad Schwindeman-Romano, Jonathane Bernardez, and Chris Strilowich.

The boys team is set to compete at the 2018 New England Prep School Track Association (NEPSTA) Division IV Cross Country Championships. The race will take place on Saturday, November 10 at Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thompson, CT. The varsity boys race is set to begin at 2:00 pm.

The NEPSTA Championships bring together the best of the best for one final race of the season. Wooster is one of 30 schools who will participate in the race. There will be 160 boys competing on Saturday. Good luck Generals!

About New England Preparatory School Athletic Council

NEPSAC was established in 1942 as an organization of athletic directors from accredited New England independent schools. While the Association does not function as a regulatory or oversight body (like the NCAA or state public high school associations), NEPSAC does sanction New England championship events in many sports and provides guidance in a variety of issues involving interscholastic athletics in our schools.
