Alice Yarysh: Retired State Health Department Employee, Long-Time Rocky Hill Resident
The communicant of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church passed away Sept. 19 at age 91.

Alice (Horobchuk) Yarysh, 91, of Rocky Hill, beloved wife of the late John Yarysh, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015.
Born in Hartford on November 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Rose (Hish) Horobchuk.

She lived in Hartford for many years prior to moving to Rocky Hill in December 1966. Alice graduated from Hartford High School and Hartford Secretarial School. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed by the State of CT Department of Health for over 28 years.
She was a longtime, faithful communicant of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ukrainian Patriarchal Society and belonged to the Women’s Auxiliary of the Organization for the Defense of the Four Freedoms and the Ukrainian Congress Committee of the Ukrainian National Home.

Alice is survived by a nephew, Oleg Yarish and his wife Nadya of Wayne, NJ.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John Horobchuk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Glastonbury. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. There will be a Panakhyda service at 7 p.m. to conclude the calling hours.
