ROCKY HILL, CT—The Rocky Hill Fire Department battled a blaze on Monday, fire officials said.
At 10:01 a.m. the Rocky Hill Fire Department (RHFD) responded to 300 Cold Spring Road for the report of an activated fire alarm. Upon arrival at 10:04 a.m., fire crews found that there was a working fire in the laundry room exhaust ductwork beginning on the third floor, officials said.
"Due to the sheer magnitude of the structure, Task Force 51 was activated to report to the scene, and additional town coverage was provided by Westfield and Glastonbury Fire Departments," fire officials said.
The fire was confined to the seven-story exhaust ductwork and to where it extended onto the roof. The fire was knocked down at 11:13 a.m.
"A considerable amount of overhaul was carried out to save the resident’s belongings from water damage and to look for any fire extension," fire officials said.
"The RHFD extends our gratitude to the East Berlin, Cromwell, Newington, and Wethersfield Fire Departments who assisted on scene with the incident," fire officials said.
The call ended at 12:18 p.m. and the Rocky Hill Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the fire.
There were no injuries to the residents or first responders during the call.
"In addition, we offer our thanks to the Glastonbury and Westfield Fire Departments for responding to two concurring calls during the fire. A fuel leak on the Exit 24 ramp of Interstate 91, and a brush fire in the area of 400 Capitol Boulevard. Thank to our neighboring departments for assisting us today," fire officials said.
