• Connecticut police officers surprise a huge police fan who's battling cancer for a third time (fox61.com) — Dozens of police officers from across Connecticut gathered in Rocky Hill to surprise 10-year-old Collin Genetti-Moore, who is battling cancer for the third time and dreams of becoming an officer. They brought gifts, K-9s, and a special convoy, giving him a powerful morale boost and reaffirming their support for his future in law enforcement.
• The inmate who survived eight execution dates dies at 101 (mlive.com) — A 101-year-old man long considered the nation's longest-serving inmate died in June while on supervised parole at a Rocky Hill nursing facility. His decades-long case, involving a commuted death sentence and lingering doubts about his conviction, kept him under Connecticut correctional supervision for more than 70 years.
