3. Fundraiser for Connecticut officer shot in face, arm raises nearly $17K (nhregister.com) — A Rocky Hill police officer, Jon Escobar, was shot in the arm and face during a pursuit that began in Hartford and ended near the Rocky Hill town line, and a FundtheFirst campaign has already raised nearly $17,000 for his recovery. Yale police officer charged with workers' comp fraud (ctpost.com) — State officials say a Yale campus police officer is accused of improperly collecting nearly $39,000 in workers' compensation benefits and has been charged with larceny, perjury, and fraud. He surrendered at the Rocky Hill Police Department, and the case will be prosecuted by the Workers' Compensation Fraud Control Unit based in Rocky Hill, underscoring the town's role in statewide investigations.
