Apparent Suicide at Rocky Hill Park Being Investigated

A man was discovered dead in a Rocky Hill Park on Monday.

ROCKY HILL, CT — Rocky Hill police are investigating an apparent suicide at a local park.

At about 3:15 p.m. on Monday, Rocky Hill police responded to Elm Ridge Park, 380 Elm St., after receiving a report about an unconscious male, according to a news release.

Patrol officers went to the area of the amphitheater, located at the rear of Elm Ridge Park and located a deceased male inside a motor vehicle, according to a news release.

The man appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a news release.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to the scene and will be determining the cause and manner of death, police said.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin and official identification by the OCME, police said.

Police are considering the incident isolated and there was no threat to the public at any time, according to a news release. The area of the amphitheater was temporarily closed while RHPD detectives

conducted their investigation.

The area of the park was reopened at 6:22 p.m., according to a news release.
