Apple Rehab Rocky Hill Helping Feed the Hungry with Food Drive

Apple Rehab Rocky Hill, in honor of the spirit of National Nursing Home Week, recently hosted a food drive for the Town of Rocky Hill food pantry, which helps feed the hungry. “It was a great success, and Apple Rehab Rocky Hill is beyond fortunate to have a supportive and collaborative community,” said Rebecca Veniscofsky, administrator of Apple Rehab Rocky Hill. “By giving back, we help make a difference to those around us.”

The theme for this year’s National Nursing Home Week was “The Spirit of America,” which underscores the bond between staff, volunteers and residents that capture the American spirit. National Nursing Home Week, established by the American Health Care Association in 1967 and always beginning on Mother’s Day, provides an opportunity for residents and their loved ones, staff, volunteers and surrounding communities to recognize the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Apple Rehab Rocky Hill kicked off National Nursing Home Week with a Mother’s Day family brunch. Other events included a Patriotic Day with fireworks, Olympic Day with competitions and games, Pilgrim & Indian Day including a turkey dinner, Western Day featuring a family BBQ and Apple Day. “It was so much fun, all the activities with the staff and residents,” said an Apple Rehab Rocky Hill resident. “A great time was had by everyone.”
