ROCKY HILL, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Nichols College, Dudley MA

• Approximately 600 Nichols students, including three from Rocky Hill, achieved Dean's List or Dean's High Honors status during the fall 2018 semester. Honorees from Rocky Hill are Madison Bakos, Dean's High Honors; James Chasco-Dimauro, Dean's High Honors; and Bailey O'Connell, Dean's High Honors. The Dean's List recognizes students who earned high grades during a single semester. To be on the Dean's List, a student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.2 for at least 12 credit-hours and receive no grade below a C+ during the semester. A student who earns a grade point average of 3.6 or higher is awarded Dean's High Honors.

Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven CT

• Eight students from Rocky Hill were named to the dean's list at Southern Connecticut State University for the fall 2018 semester. They are Madison Nastri, Athena Androulidakis, Hailey Ralls, Tori Mazzarella, Alexandra Russo, Erin Hourihan, Kassandra Veneziano and Trevor Whalen. In order for undergraduate students to qualify for the dean’s list, students must complete 12.0 or more credits in fall or spring and earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or better.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• Two Rocky Hill residents were among 1,595 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2018 semester: Sophie Kurdziel, a member of the class of 2022 majoring in aerospace engineering, and Adam Santos, a member of the class of 2021 majoring in robotics engineering. The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
