What Makes Volcanoes Erupt? Benjamin Chilson-Parks, Assistant Professor in Residence, Department of Geosciences, University of Connecticut, first got interested in volcanoes from growing up in Burlington, CT and learning that Connecticut used to be covered in them! Much of the dark-colored rock you see in the middle of the state was the result of volcanic activity millions of years ago, during the time of the dinosaurs! This interest drove him to study rocks erupted from ancient volcanoes in other parts of the United States and South America. Join this conversation with Scientist, Benjamin Chilson-Parks, to find out amazing things about volcanoes. Special thanks to Dr. Chilson-Parks and the University of Connecticut for presenting this program.
