At last evening’s staff meeting, Tuesday, February 6, 2018, I had the privilege to be present as Fire Probationary Joey Savage received his promotion to Full Active Firefighter. Joey accomplished this status by completing all of the probationary requirements in the prescribed time. He is a valuable member of the Rocky Hill Fire Department and specifically Company #2 located on New Britain Ave.
In chatting with Fire Chief Michael Garrahy, he remembers Joey attending a referendum meeting and engaged in a discussion related to joining the department following the meeting. Because a recruit must be a minimum of 18 years old, Joey was unable to join at that time. Michael told Joey to see him when he turned eighteen. Immediately after turning eighteen, Joey followed up and began his journey that led to last evening’s promotion.
Joey is intimately involved with the Scouting program, on local and national levels.
