Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union Hosts Annual Electronics Recycling Event

If you’ve recently upgraded to the newest iPhone and have an old one collecting dust in a drawer, then Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union was the place to be last Saturday. For a third year in a row the credit union held an Electronics Recycling event at its corporate office in Rocky Hill.
The credit union partnered with WFSB Channel 3 for the free community event. From 9am to noon, cars lined up with old TV’s, stereos, computers, phones and even electronic relics, such as typewriters and boom boxes. Green Monster Recycling out of West Hartford managed the collection of the electronics.
“It’s very important to securely dispose of old electronic equipment that contains or ever contained any personal information” said Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union President & CEO John Holt. “This is yet another way in which we give back to the community where we do business.”

In total, two full dumpsters and a truckload of electronics were securely destroyed and recycled after the event. The event was open to anyone in the community, not just members of Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union.
