Historic Views on Vampires
State archaeologist explains what and how we know about vampire beliefs in 19th century New England.

By examining remains in old cemeteries and networking with New England archeologists and historians, State Archaeologist Nicholas F. Bellantoni has learned a lot about the New England vampire scare in the 19th century. Bellantoni will share his discoveries in a talk at the Cora J. Belden Library on Tuesday, October 23, 2012.
The presentation, Vampire Folk Belief in Historic New England, will detail how Eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island became hot spots of vampire belief in the 1800s. It will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
