Jury Awards $7.3 Million to Family of Rocky Hill DOT Worker Killed on Route 8

Father of two Daniel DiNardi, 41, was killed on Route 8 near the Waterbury-Naugatuck line in 2012 after being hit by a tractor trailer.

Nearly $7.3 million has been awarded to the family of a Department of Transportation supervisor who was struck and killed by a tractor trailer on Route 8 near the Waterbury-Naugatuck line in 2012.

A Hartford Superior Court jury awarded the damages to the estate of Daniel DiNardi, who was a 41-year-old father of two from Rocky Hill, according to NBC Connecticut.

DiNardi was struck by a tractor-trailer on the right shoulder of Route 8 northbound on March 22, 2012. He parked his DOT truck, which had its emergency lights on, and got out of the vehicle before he was struck.

The driver Gina Davies was sentenced to two years in prison for misconduct with a vehicle.
