According to the accident report released Sunday morning, another 2018 Acura TLX being driven by an 18-year-old East Hartford woman was traveling behind another vehicle in the center lane of three on I-91.
"For an unknown reason," police said, that Acura slammed into the rear of a 2024 Volvo 999 being driven by a 37-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y., man traveling in the center lane.

According to the accident report, this collision made the Acura collide with the Acura being driven by Charles, sending Charles' Acura into the right shoulder.
That's where Charles' vehicle slammed into a metal beam guardrail in the right shoulder, veered across the highway, and then slammed into the left shoulder guardrail, police said.
According to the accident report, Charles' Acura then entered the grassy center median of the highway, where it began to roll over, ending up in an "uncontrolled final rest" in the median.
Police said Charles was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, the Volvo pulled over and stopped in the right shoulder while the other Acura hit the right shoulder guardrail.
The driver of the Volvo was not injured and the female driver of the other Acura reported "minor injuries."
The Acura being driven by the female also had four other female passengers aged 17, 18, 19 and 21, respectively. Two of the passengers had minor injuries and the other two reported no injuries.
Those two injured passengers were taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford for treatment, according to police.
Police are still investigating the accident and anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage of the vehicles is asked to contact State Police Trooper Michael Dean at Troop H in Hartford at 860-534-1098 or michael.dean@ct.gov.
