Mayor Roy Zartarian visits Newington KinderCare

Yesterday was Read Across America, and in celebration, Newington Mayor Roy Zartarian visited his local KinderCare Center to read with children and underscore the importance of early literacy.

“Mayor Zartarian was gracious enough to accept our invitation to read to our preschool class as we celebrate Read Across America on Dr. Seuss’ birthday,” said Center Director Jenna Minton. “The visit has generated lots of excitement among the children and families here. It was a thrill to have him with us!”

Read Across America, created by the National Education Association, is a celebration of reading recognized annually on Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Read Across America aims to motivate reading among children and raise awareness about early literacy.
