In Memoriam: Jeanette E. Soroko
The Rocky Hill resident passed away Dec. 31 at the age of 94.

Jeanette E. Soroko, 94, of Rocky Hill, formerly of Wethersfield, passed away Thursday December 31, 2015, at home.
She was born on November 26, 1921 in Hartford, daughter of the late Harry and Stephanie (Tarasiuk) Soroko.

Prior to her retirement, Jeanette was a Property Disposal Officer for the US Government Defense Contract Administration. She was very proud of the fact that she was the first woman to hold this position in New England. Jeanette was also the Chaplain for the Hartford Chapter of NARFE and a current member of the Wethersfield Fair Rent Commission.
She also loved to travel, visiting France, Spain, Italy, Bermuda and Poland numerous times. She also loved to golf and was a member of Wethersfield Country Club. Jeanette was very proud of her Polish heritage as well as her devotion to the Catholic Church. She delighted in sharing her meeting Saint Pope John Paul II.

Jeanette is survived by her sister-in-law Patricia Soroko of Wallingford, two nephews, Bernard Soroko and his wife Heather of Madison,David Soroko and his wife Emily of VA and a niece, Lynn Young and her husband Kevin of Killingworth, as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother George Soroko and her fiancé, Alan Janczyk.
