Popular Restaurant In Rocky Hill Closes Abruptly
The eatery was the national chain's last location in Connecticut.
ROCKY HILL, CT — A local restaurant, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, has closed permanently.
Staff at the Silas Deane Highway establishment on Thursday confirmed the closure, which was first reported by The Connecticut Scoop.
Staff declined to comment further, and it was not immediately clear how many workers would be impacted.

It was the last Connecticut location for the national chain, which closed a restaurant in Orange early last year.
The restaurant’s menu features traditional Texas and Mexican fare, such as fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, burritos, quesadillas, margaritas and sangria.

According to its website, the chain was founded in 1982.
It has shuttered several locations in the past couple of years.
As of November 2024, it reported having 121 restaurants in the United States and internationally. As of February 2025, there were 67 locations listed on the company’s main website, and as of Thursday, this was down to 42 locations, including Rocky Hill.
