Rocky Hill Fire Department Drilling

On Tuesday the members of the Fire Department gathered for their weekly drill.

The drills begin at 6:30pm and runs until completed, generally between 9:00 and 10:00pm.
Company 1, under the leadership of Captain Brian Stevens, met at Station #3 to drill on the appropriate techniques to make a forcible entry.

Company 2, under the leadership of Captain Wally Sliva, drilled at the Fire Grounds behind Station #2 on New Britain Ave. They were doing buddy breathing on SCBA, self contained breathing apparatus. This is critical due to the nature of the many dangerous fumes.

Company 3, under the leadership of Captain Luke DiMaria, worked with the members on ropes and knots. Having a working knowledge of ropes and knots is indispensable and essential to guarantee the safety of each and every Firefighter.

The Fire Police, under the leadership of Captain John Arcari, joined with Company 1.

Overall, all the members were engaged in the kind of training that is critical to address the variety of emergencies they encounter regularly.
