Rocky Hill Obituary: Daniel Maycock, 87

Condolences to his family and friends.

Daniel Richard Maycock, 87, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband for over 50 years of the late Janet Lewis Maycock, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, September 06, 2016.

Born in Middletown on June 16, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Ruth (Maitland) Maycock. Dan was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He attended Ward College of Technology and upon graduating, he began his lifelong career of teaching at the University of Hartford/Ward College of Technology where he achieved the distinguished status of Professor Emeritus. He served as President of the Faculty Senate for several years.

He was a member of the Civitan Club of Wethersfield and served as the Commodore of the Greenhaven Sailing Club. As a youth, he was a sea scout which sparked Dan’s lifelong love of sailing, inspiring him to build his own 18 foot wooden sailboat. Dan, along with his wife, enjoyed many years sailing in Long Island Sound. He also enjoyed woodworking and built his grandchildren each a piece to remember him by.
