Rocky Hill Obituary: Dorothy Almquist, 83

Condolences to her family and friends.

Dorothy "Dotsie" (Jones) Almquist passed away March 19, 2016 at her residence in Boulder, CO. She was 83.

Dotsie was born on February 20, 1933 to Morris and Dorothy Jones (Fraser) in New London. The daughter of a USCG officer, Dotsie lived in New London; Winchester, MA; Falls Church, VA; Long Beach, CA; and Seattle, WA, where she graduated from Queen Anne High School. She attended Mitchell College and the University of Connecticut.

Dotsie married Warren J. Almquist in 1954. The couple raised two daughters in Rocky Hill and Glastonbury. Dotsie was active in gardeners club, embroidery guild, and other activities with her many friends. The couple later moved to Old Saybrook and then to Boulder, CO.

Dotsie will be greatly missed by her husband, Warren, two daughters, Shelley (Steve) Gabel of Boulder, CO, and Heather Almquist (Daniel Dwyer) of Missoula, MT; two grandchildren, Sarah and Erica Gabel of Boulder, CO; a brother, Richard Jones, of Camano Island, WA, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Jones of Fredericksburg, VA.

A private remembrance gathering is planned.
